بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ

3.79-80

مَا كَانَ لِبَشَرٍ اَنْ یُّؤْتِیَهُ اللّٰهُ الْكِتٰبَ وَ الْحُكْمَ وَ النُّبُوَّةَ ثُمَّ یَقُوْلَ لِلنَّاسِ كُوْنُوْا عِبَادًا لِّیْ مِنْ دُوْنِ اللّٰهِ وَ لٰـكِنْ كُوْنُوْا رَبّٰنِیّٖنَ بِمَا كُنْتُمْ تُعَلِّمُوْنَ الْكِتٰبَ وَ بِمَا كُنْتُمْ تَدْرُسُوْنَۙ (79) وَ لَا یَاْمُرَكُمْ اَنْ تَتَّخِذُوا الْمَلٰٓىٕكَةَ وَ النَّبِیّٖنَ اَرْبَابًاؕ-اَیَاْمُرُكُمْ بِالْكُفْرِ بَعْدَ اِذْ اَنْتُمْ مُّسْلِمُوْنَ۠ (80)

Kanz ul Iman Kanz ul Irfan

English translation of Kanz-ul-Imaan

It is not the right of any person that Allah gives him a Book, and the authority and Prophethood, he then says to the people that 'Leave Allah and become my bondsmen'; yes, he will rather say this; that 'Become the devoted bondsmen of Allah, for this reason that you teach the Book and you also study it.' And nor will he command you to appoint angels and prophets as gods; would he command you to disbelieve after you have become Muslims?

Commentary

“Rabbānī” means “godly”, “devout scholar”, and “jurist”. This expresses that the fruit of knowledge is that one becomes a devout servant of Allah Almighty; one who does not attain this benefit through knowledge, then his knowledge is useless.
